300th Anniversary Celebration of Hebron Lutheran Church

Sunday, April 30, 2017 has been set aside for the celebration of the tricentennial of the Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison, VA — the oldest Lutheran Church in continuous use in the United States and founded by members of the 1717 Second Germanna Colony. All are heartily welcome to participate.

AGENDA – April 30, 1017

8:30 – 10:30 am: Registration check-in with coffee and donuts

11:00 am: Celebration Worship Service, ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton, Guest Preacher Assisted by Virginia Synod Bishop James Mauney and Hebron Pastor Patricia Covington

1:00 pm: Box Lunch – Fried chicken and sides

2:00 pm: Presentations

• History of the church and congregation by Rev. William Hall, Hebron Pastor, 1970-1980
• Hebron’s 1802 Tannenburg Organ by George Taylor, Taylor & Boody Organbuilders
• Additional presentation to be announced

EXHIBITS

• Hebron’s 1560 Luther Bible, Reformation Years
• The Church Glebe Tract
• Early German families (land patents)

COST

SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY ITEMS

We are making church improvements to get ready for the celebration. Please consider purchasing one of the below items to help us raise money for these improvements.

Wine Glasses​
Wine glasses are $5 each, a set of four (boxed for shipping or gift wrapping) for $25, and set of six  (boxed for shipping or gift wrapping) for $35.  If you are ordering glasses and do not want them packaged in sets of 4 or 6, each one will be $5. They will be wrapped individually to insure safe handling. Proceeds go toward the new carpet in the church with hopes that it will be installed before the anniversary celebration. CALENDARS:
Hebron Lutheran Church Calendar is $17. Proceeds go toward the new carpet in the church with hopes that it will be installed before the anniversary celebration. Photos inside the calendar are suitable for framing. Calendars can be picked up at the church or ordered for mailing. If they are to be mailed, please add $2 for shipping.
